Markus is a member of the Institute of Illinois Business Laws where he helps draft Illinois business laws and provides input into proposed business laws.
He currently serves as an associate editor of the Corporations, Securities & Business Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association and is a prior Chairman of that Section. He is also a prior Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Mergers and Acquisitions Committee and prior Chairman of the CBA Business Law Committee. He previously served on the DuPage County Bar Association Publication Board and the DCBA Business Law Committee which he also chaired. He is a member of the Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries Board of Directors and was a recipient of their Collaboration Award each year from 2006-2011. He is an AV rated attorney with Martindale Hubbell and a Superb rated attorney with AVVO.com.
Mr. May has authored numerous articles related to business law including shareholder agreements, protecting business owners' personal assets, purchasing and selling businesses, and drafting pre-acquisition agreements in professional journals. He was a regular columnist for the Naperville Sun Law Talk newspaper column.
Mr. May received a Bachelors degree in Marketing and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado where he served on the Law Review and was class president.
